I was born and raised in Richmond. I got my start at St. David’s when my son Roy and my daughter Christina were students here. My experiences start from assisting with motor skills up to being the kindergarten aide when the first kindergarten opened. I then went on to start the pre- kindergarten in 1987, and have been the director ever since. I earned my teaching credentials in Early Childhood Education at Contra Costa College, Diablo Valley College and College of Marin. In my spare time I love to paint and I am quite crafty when it comes to arts and crafts.
Teacher Mrs. Maria Mejia
I started volunteering at the school my two sons attended and I really enjoyed what I was doing. I decided that teaching was something that I wanted to do. I received my teachers credentials and started my career as a teacher in 1990. I worked as a teacher's aide for 11 years and then in 2003, I became a teacher at the St. David School Preschool.
Teacher Mrs. Rowena McCarthy
I grew up in Richmond, attending the local public schools and graduating with a B.A. in Liberal Studies from San Francisco State University.
My two children attended St. David’s (pre-K through 8th); the elder is currently attending St. Mary’s College of California, and the younger is about to graduate from the eighth grade, he’ll be attending St. Mary’s College High School in the Fall. I became a teacher’s assistant and substitute teacher at St. David’s in 2004, an am now a full time preschool teacher. I’m happy to say that I now work alongside the same great teachers that taught my children many years ago.
I have been a stay-at-home mom for the better part of 19 years, having worked previously in hotel management at the Crowne Plaza Union Square in San Francisco. I enjoy gardening and cooking, an am, along with my family, a parishioner at St. David’s parish.
