The Purpose of Student Government: Serving on our SDS Student Government team serves a large variety of purposes. Student who serve on our SDS Student Government team will learn responsibility, leadership, and companionship. I only allow 7th and 8th graders to serve on Student Government because I want it to be instilled in them that they are indeed the leaders of our student body. Another purpose is that Student Government members will understand and implement our school’s mission, Faith and Knowledge becoming one. The Student Government team will have a variety of opportunities to instill the knowledge we teacher’s provide for them at SDS together with their faith through their spirit, their academics, their social interaction with each other and other students all at SDS. By the time the every student government member graduates from SDS in 8th grade, I plan for them to have a well instilled work ethic, knowledge of the curriculum, they have learned in their academics, and be well prepared to serve at whatever High School they attend.
Student Government Roles and Responsibilities: To make sure that the Student Government members fulfill all that is set out for their purpose, I plan to have them participate in a lot of responsibility around our campus. I have included the role of each position, as well as the responsibilities of all Student Government Members in an attachment below this email.
[Student Government meetings will always be on Wednesdays, after school from 2:55 - 3:40 p.m.]
